Inhibition of norfloxacin absorption by dairy products.
Seven healthy subjects received, after an overnight fast, a single 200-mg oral dose of norfloxacin with water, whole milk, and unflavored yoghurt. Coadministration of milk or yoghurt reduced the extent of norfloxacin absorption and the mean peak concentration in plasma by approximately 50%. Taking of norfloxacin with these liquid dairy products should be avoided.
متن کاملMetabolic Fate of Products of Starch Digestion and Absorption in Beef and Dairy Cattle
• Gluconeogenesis is the principal route of glucose supply for ruminants • Several products of starch digestion and absorption are key carbon sources for gluconeogenesis • Propionate • Lactate • Amino acids from microbial protein • Metabolic requirements for glucose are linked to production demands and priorities; they can be estimated or calculated as a function of energy intake across a wide ...
متن کاملInhibition of food iron absorption by coffee13
Dual isotope studies were performed in iron replete human subjects to evaluate the effect of coffee on nonheme iron absorption. A cup of coffee reduced iron absorption from a hamburger meal by 39% as compared to a 64% decrease with tea, which is known to be a potent inhibitor of iron absorption. When a cup of drip coffee or instant coffee was ingested with a meal composed of semipurified ingred...
متن کاملMicrobiological Spoilage of Dairy Products
The wide array of available dairy foods challenges the microbiologist, engineer, and technologist to find the best ways to prevent the entry of microorganisms, destroy those that do get in along with their enzymes, and prevent the growth and activities of those that escape processing treatments. Troublesome spoilage microorganisms include aerobic psychrotrophic Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, m...
متن کاملIsolation of Listeria monocytogenes from Meat and Dairy Products
Introduction: This study was intended to determine the presence and distribution of Listeria monocytogenes in various meat and dairy products from Qazvin Province by culture followed by biochemical and morphological assays. The identity of the isolates was further obtained by amplification of prfA gene in bacteria isolates. This gene is a transcriptional activator of virulence gene ex...
